Bhubaneswar: In the present technological age, transformation is required even on a greater pace and Odisha Police is on the right track, said outgoing DGP RP Sharma on Thursday after handing over charge to his successor BK Sharma.

While the Odisha Police is performing basic duties of maintaining law and order, crime control and investigation, it is also providing citizen centric services. Efforts are on for service orientation of police personnel as they should be people-friendly and there are also some behavioural issues, said the former police chief.

"The Odisha Police is gradually transforming into a professionally competent and efficient force," he added.

Notably, outgoing DGP RP Sharma has opted for VRS (voluntary retirement scheme). He has also been selected as a Lokayukta Member here in the State. His name proposed by the Lokayukta Selection Committee has recently been accorded seal of approval by the Odisha Governor.
