Odisha: Police Inspector Dismissed Following Conviction In Corruption Case

Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP (in-charge) Satyajit Mohanty on Thursday dismissed an inspector-ranked official from service after the latter was convicted in a corruption case.

The official, Nalinikanta Mohapatra was posted in Mayurbhanj district as a police inspector. He was dismissed after Special Judge, Vigilance Jeypore found him guilty under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Earlier in 2010, Mohapatra was booked by the State Vigilance in a corruption case while he was the Inspector in-charge of Bissamkatak police station in Rayagada district.

"Inspector Nalinikanta Mohapatra, was dismissed from service by DGP in exercise of powers conferred under article 311 (2) (b) of the constitution of India and Rule 828 read with appendix 49 (12) (c) of the Odisha Police Manual," a press release issued by the State Police Headquarters read.
