Odisha Police DG Holds Meeting On Election Preparedness In Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In view of the upcoming elections Police DG Dr RP Sharma today held a preparatory meeting with Sambalpur DIG Satyabrata Bhoi on election security preparedness in the district.

Dr Sharma said that a critical assessment was carried out on monitoring cash movement and trading of liquor and illegal firemarms. Senior police and CRPF officials were present at the meeting.

There are total five districts under the jurisdiction of Northern (Sambalpur) police range which include 18 assembly costituencies and three Lok Sabha consituencies. Elections will be held in two phases in this region.

"The security deployment have already been carried out and addition forces will be mobilised for booth level deployment and mobile patrol. Enforcement is a priority and our prime target will bee illegal liquor, firemarms and cash movement," Dr Sharma said.

He added that CRPF and IR Battalion are working in close coordination with LWE dominated areas to check movement and activities of the Maoists, he added.

"The political parties have been advised to stick to the model code of conduct. Any violations will not be tolerated. We will ensure free, fair and peaceful polls in Sambalpur Range," Dr Sharma added.

Among others, Special DG Suni Roy, ADGs RP Koche, Sanjeev Panda and Ghanashyam Upadhayay and CRPF IGP Vitul Kumar were present.
