Odisha: Police Commissonerate Cracks Anil Jena Murder Case, Two Arrested

Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough the Commissionerate of Police arrested the prime accused and his associate involved in the murder of Anil Jena which took place on November 7 in Sarakantara area of the city. The accused have been identified as Bharat Sahu alias Bapi and Durga Prasad Sahu alias Happy.

"Under the supervision of DCP Bhubaneswar, the Special Squad and Khandagiri Police had launched a manhunt to nab the accused in this case. They have been brought to Bhubaneswar and produced in the court soon," Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said.

Briefing media persons today, DCP Anup Sahoo said that the murder was an outcome of previous enmity. Bapi owned some land in the area which led to a conflict of interest between Anil and his group. Besides, Bapi's illegal activities like narcotics trade was also opposed by Anil and his father Abhimanyu, Sahoo said.

"One of Bapi's accomplices, Alok was beaten by Anil a few days prior to the incident. Following this incident, Bapi and Anil were involved in a violent spat. Bapi nursed a grudge on Anil and fired two rounds at him. He fled from the city and was arrested by a spot under Chandili police limits in Rayagada district," Sahoo added.
