Bhubaneswar: The Petroleum Dealers Association, Odisha, on Saturday lodged an FIR against Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi at Capital Police Station here alleging he misbehaved with the association's president Sasanka Sekhar Sahu.
As stated by the association, Sahu had been to the office of Sarangi on Monday to submit an application to address a public grievance. On reaching the Commissioner's office, he found Sarangi discussing with some people in front of his chamber.
Sahu handed over the application to Sarangi and conveyed to him that a copy of the application has been sent to Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal. On hearing this, Sarangi reacted angrily and said that he is not working under the Governor nor the President or Prime Minister.
Sarangi pushed Sahu back and asked him to take his application and meet the above three or anybody else to redress his grievance. Although Sahu aksed the Commissioner to behave like a responsible Government Officer, the latter behaved impolitely and rudely, the association added.
The association has also apprised the matter to the Governor, Home Secretary and DGP demanding immediate enquiry into the issue and suitable action against Sarangi. They have further demanded that Sarangi should be immediately replaced with a suitable officer.
In reaction, the Commissioner informed that on the particular day he was getting late to attend a Shanti Committee meeting in Cuttack when Sahu approached him without any prior appointment and said that the Governor has sent a letter to the former.
On hearing this, Sarangi said that there is no need to exert pressure on him as he will hear the grievance but presently he has to attend a meeting and asked Sahu to come some other day.
On his return from Cuttack, the Commissioner asked ACP Rabinarayan Satapathy to bring Sahu near him to know about his grievance. However, Sahu didn't show up before the Commissioner and now after four days intentionally raking up the issue in media.
Sarangi further informed that, he has gone through the application submitted by Sahu and have instructed Bhubaneswar DCP to look into it. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction on the way public is attempting to pressurize police. The allegation that he has insulted the Governor, President and Prime Minister was refuted by the Commissioner terming it as hilarious.
