Odisha: People's Forum To Provide Shelter To Mentally Sick Persons

Bhubaneswar: Odisha-based NGO People's Forum will be setting up a shelter home for under privileged mentally ill males persons at Gangapada in Khurda. The programme will aim at sheltering destitutes who are mentally ill and offer them a quality life and proper medical treatment.

The programme has been named 'Mission Alok' under which 100 mentally ill persons will be accommodated. The members of People's Forum will target Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack cities in the first phase of the programme which will continue for three days upto Friday.

"100 social workers with the help of five ambulances have started working towards achieving the target. On Thursday and Friday, the social workers will look for destitutes in Puri and Cuttack respectively," a member of the NGO said.
