Bhubaneswar: As many as 616 child labourers were rescued from 2014 to September 2019 in Odisha, revealed Odisha Labour & Employees' State Insurance Minister Susanta Singh in a written reply to a question from CPI (M) member Laxman Munda in the State Assembly here today.
The Minister also told the House that apart from rescue of child labourers, 647 cases have been filed against violators under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act and other Acts during the aforementioned period.
Under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 319 number of OPDR (Orissa Public Demands Recovery Act) Cases have been filed for recovery of Rs 63,80,000 for 319 child labourers by September 2017, the Minister added.
The Minister has further stated that 13,620 child labourers have been identified after completion of survey of 16 National Child Labour Project (NCLP) districts in 2017-18.
