Bargarh: While thousands of farmers marched on the streets of capital city today morning to demand ‘price, prestige and pension’, over 14 lakh small and marginal farmers are set to reap benefits today at the Bargarh convention. Around Rs 700 crore will be directly transferred to the accounts of the ‘KALIA’ beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to inaugurate Phase-II of the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) today at Bargarh and beneficiaries will directly get fund deposited to their respective bank accounts via DBT mode.
While many farmers under Nabanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) have thronged capital city over ‘price, prestige and pension’ demands, lakhs will gather in today’s KALIA farmers’ mega convention. It is notable to mention here that 12.45 lakh farmers have already been benefitted by the scheme in Phase-I and the Chief Minister has also announced ‘KALIA’ scholarship to support children of the scheme beneficiaries who are aspiring to enroll into technical and professional courses for higher study. KALIA Scholarship would ensure human resource development among the farming families across the State.
Meanwhile, the government also has programme for the Phase III, informed Agricultural secretary Saurabh Garg.
