Balasore: Cracking down on illegal contraband, Sahadevkhunta police on Tuesday seized around 1.6 kg of brown sugar worth over Rs 1.5 crore and arrested four persons in Balasore district.

Acting on a tip-off, cops conducted simultaneous raids at Dahapada, Phuladi and other adjoining areas on the outskirts of Balasore town and arrested Sheikh Maksad (35), Sheikh Raju (30), Sheikh Abusen (28) and Sheikh Jamshed Ali (53). A four-wheeler has also been seized from their possession. 

As per reports, that the four were carrying out the illegal trading of brown sugar on the pretext of fish trading. Further probe into the matter is currently underway.
