Odisha: Oil Godown Raided Over Allegation of ‘Fake Oil’ Production

Rayagada:   The Rayagada police have raided an oil godown in Rayagada town’s  Gautamnagar area and seized some sample packets and documents. it has been alleged that they did not have licence to produce oil packets and moreover, the oil was substandard. The police have seized some documents and samples of the oil packets.

The District Public Health Officer (DPHO) and Food Safety officer of Rayagada district have taken cognizance of the facts. 

Talking to media persons, Jitendra Kumar Mahanta, Food Safety Officer,in charge of Rayagada district informed, “We will verify the documents brought by the police, then go for spot verification . As there are allegations that it is fake or substandard oil, we will send it to the Food Testing Lab at Bhubaneswar for analysis. Necessary action will be taken only after we receive their report.”

“Proper investigation will be carried out before taking any action. I will also verify the licence,” said Dr V Loknath Raju, DPHO. Rayagada.
