Odisha Nor’wester Rains: Jajpur Dist Records Highest 60.3 MM Rainfall

Bhubaneswar: As Nor’wester rains lashed Odisha on Wednesday morning hours with heavy downpour and thunderstorm, Jajpur district recorded the highest rainfall in the pre-noon hours. As per the rainfalls recorded officially by the State Disaster Management Department, Jajpur district experienced a maximum rainfall of 60.3 millimetre (mm).

According to the checklist for rainfall on the day (May 23, 2018) released by the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Jajpur district recorded maximum 60.3 mm followed by Bhadrak-28.8 mm while Cuttack recorded 15.6 mm, Keonjhar 13.7 mm, Mayurbhanj district 12.7 mm, Kandhamal 4.5 mm, Kendrapara 3.2 mm, Koraput 3.3 mm, Kalahandi 2.4 mm, Deogarh 2.1 mm and Sundargarh 1.4 mm maximum rainfall.

On the other hand, Angul, Bargarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Puri district recorded nil rainfall on the day while Subarnapur district received 0.7 mm rainfall along with Sambalpur district 0,9 mm, Rayagada 0.9 mm, Nayagarh rainfall report not received by SRC office while Malkangiri district received 0.1 mm rainfall.
