Nabarangpur: Helping a critically injured farmer get a fresh lease of life, Nabarangpur Collector Dr. Ajit Kumar Mishra assisted in rushing an accident victim to a hospital just in time.

Reportedly on Monday, a young farmer was found grievously injured lying along Kodinga- Sanamasigaon road. Coincidentally, the district collector was on his way to a public grievance hearing and was passing by that road.

As soon as he saw the farmer, Mishra stopped the car and attended to the man. He called for an auto-rickshaw and rushed the farmer to Sanamasigaon Community Health Centre. Blood was oozing out from the farmer's mouth and there were injury marks on his body. Only after the doctors attended to him, the farmer was able to speak.

He said that his name was Gobinda Majhi and he was going to sell vegetables in the weekly market when he met with a road accident. He was not able to recall the entire incident as he had become unconscious soon after the accident.

On hearing his story, Mishra asked an ASHA worker to contact Majhi's family members and inform them. He also instructed the doctors to shift him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) if his condition deteriorated.

Locals and Majhi's family members expressed gratefulness to the Collector for a giving a new life to the young farmer.
