Angul: Athmallik MLA Ramesh Sai today denied that he was possessed by any godly spirit during a religious event held at Ambasaramunda on Sunday.

Sai's clarification came a day after a video went viral on social media with a message claiming that he was possessed by a spirit.

Sai said that he was attending an event organised by the local Gondo tribe. The occasion was a puja meant for local deity 'Bada Deo'. The legislator said that he was asked to hold the ceremonial sword on the occasion.

"One who holds this sword is worshipped as per the local practice. However, I was neither possessed nor my community endorses such beliefs. We worship nature during this puja," Sai clarified.
