Mayurbhanj: Trouble brews for the Sub-Jailor of Karanjia Sub-Jail as police recovered body of the jail warder Sukant Behera, who was missing since the afternoon of June 19, from a forest on the outskirts of the town on Sunday.
Reportedly, a prisoner undergoing life term escaped from the jail on June 17 during the duty hours of Behera when, instead of being present in the jail, he was working in the house of the Sub-Jailor.
Behera was under mental torture after he was being held responsible for the escape. Before running away he had left a note in his uniform’s pocket holding the Sub-Jailor responsible for his death.
The absconding prisoner identified as Bhagban Tudu had also left a note stating the torture meted out by the Sub-Jailor forced him to escape from the jail.
Meanwhile, police have handed over the body of Behera to his family members after conducting post-mortem. They have also initiated a probe after registering a case in this regard.
