Balasore: In a disturbing incident, some masked men attacked a woman, slit her throat and threw acid on her in Banisia village under Soro police limits here late last night.

Reportedly, the woman had gone to attend nature’s call when her path was intercepted by some unidentified miscreants, who first hit her head against a wall and then attacked her with a blade and threw acid-like substance on her body.

Soon after that, when the miscreants were trying to pour kerosene over here and set her ablaze, she started screaming for help. Locals and her family members traced her voice and rushed to the spot, however the miscreants had fled the scene.

Having sustained grievous injuries on her hands, legs and throat, the woman was rushed to Soro Medical where she is currently undergoing treatment. A complaint has been filed in connection with the incident stating that the misdeed was done over land dispute and past enmity.
