Ganjam: In yet another incident of loot after impersonation, an elderly woman’s gold ornaments were looted by bike-borne miscreants who introduced themselves as cops Bada Bazaar here in Berhampur today morning.

One Parvati Behera of Khasapa Sahi was on her way to the market when the miscreants intercepted her way and posed as cops. They asked her to remove her jewelery so that she was safe from robbers lurking in the street. As soon as she did as she was told by the 'cops', the miscreants looted her gold ornament and fled the scene. The incident occurred in the middle of the day in public following which locals have started questioning the police machinery in the district.

The woman filed a police complaint following which cops reached the spot and began a probe into the matter. Similar incident of miscreants posing as CBI officials or patients to loot cash and ornaments have been reported form the district earlier.
