Odisha: Mercury To Remain 3-4 Degrees Above Normal For 2 Days, Rains Expected Soon After

Bhubaneswar: Mercury has soared over the last week and people have started perspiring throughout the day. The change in temperature has created uneasiness in the public and director of Regional Meteorological Department HR Biswas has confirmed that the temperature will remain 3-4 degrees above normal for two days.

He said, “The weather was very dry today. Like we had forecasted, the temperature might rise 3-4 degrees above normal and this will continue for next two days. Temperature in most districts will remain above normal 3-4 degrees.”

“Maximum temperature was recorded to be 38 degree Celsius in Malkangiri. Bhubaneswar had 36.3 and Cuttack had 35.6. The temperature is expected to be 37 tomorrow as well,” he added.

“Following that, thunderstorm activity is expected on February 24, 25 and 26. North Odisha will experience more rainfall and south Odisha will experience less.”

On February 24, thunderstorm and showers is expected in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Angul, Dhenakanal, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

On February 25, hailstorm is expected in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore. Light and moderate rainfall is also expected in Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri.

“Following the showers, maximum temperature will also come down and then there will be a gradual increase of temperature,” he concluded.
