Balasore: A woman was allegedly pierced with sharp nail and needles on her head and eyes by her father to draw blood for a superstitious ritual at Gopalprasad village under Raibania police limits in Balasore district.

The woman identified as Sandhyarani Dalai was reportedly subjected to the torture in a closed room by her father Gaya Prasad Dandapat and other family members when she alongwith her husband had visted her house last night.

On hearing her screams, Sandhyarani's husband Rabindra Dalai alongwith her uncle and neighbours rescued her from the room and rushed her to Hatigarh Community Health Centre (CHC) from where she was shifted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital after her health condition deteriorated.
