Bhubaneswar: At least six shops were gutted in a major fire which took place in Ruchika Market at Nayapalli here on Tuesday evening.

Three fire brigade engines were pressed into service for dousing the flames. The mishap created chaos and clutter in the busy and crowded marketplace.

The incident occurred due to a short circuit which occurred in a transformer located close to the vending zone, Fire Officer Babaji Lenka said.
