Odisha Launches Pilot Project On 'One Nation, One Ration Card' Scheme

Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Sunday launched a pilot project for the 'One Nation, One Ration Card' scheme, which will allow portability of food security benefits.

Briefing mediapersons on this occasion, Odisha Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain said the scheme has been launched on a pilot basis and will be rolled out across the State following which inter-state portability will be ensured.

The scheme has been advertised in each and every fair price shop where any beneficiary can check-in and buy ration provided their ration cards are linked to Aadhaar.

It is worthwhile to mention that the Central Government has asked the States and Union Territories to implement the 'One Nation, One Ration Card' scheme within June 30, 2020, which will allow portability of food security benefits as such the beneficiaries would be able to buy subsidised foodgrains from ration shops in any part of the country.
