Jeypore: The special squad of Jeypore police reportedly foiled a dacoity bid and detained seven persons on Sunday. Police also seized one mouser, two live bullets, Rs 80,650 in cash, one knife, six mobile phones and two bikes from their possession.

While the police claim that various cases against the accused have been lodged at different police stations across the district, family members of two of the detainees arrived at the Jeypore Sadar Police Station today and demanded for release of the duo stating they are innocent.

The family members alleged the police are spoiling the future of innocent persons as no case has been registered against the two at any police station. They demanded the police to release them immediately or they will commit suicide by consuming poison inside the police station.

As the irate family members stood firm on their demand police assured to reinvestigate the case and take appropriate action on the matter if the two are found innocent.
