Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, an iron rod pierced through a minor boy’s chest in Dimbo village under Town police limits when he was playing with the 5-feet-long rod last evening.

The incident occurred when the victim Chandan Mahakud (11) fell on the rod and the sharp object pierced his chest. Chandan was rushed to Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital for treatment and was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack when his condition worsened.

Reports stated that last year, a similar incident was reported from Dhangadadiha village near Ghatagaon after a tree branch got lodged in the neck of a minor boy as he fell off a blackberry tree. It was successfully removed from his neck after surgery by a team of SCB doctors.
