Odisha: Inspector, Lawyer Felicitated For Successful Investigation & Prosecution Of Murder Case

Bhubaneswar: Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi on Thursday felicitated a police officer and a lawyer who successfully led the investigation and trial of a heinous murder case till conviction.

Sarangi recognised the work of Inspector Dayanidhi Nayak and lawyer Suresh Kumar Barik for the investigation and prosecution in a murder case which took place in April 2012.

In this case, one Sandeep Kumar Nanda was murdered by 10 youths in Khandagiri area. Nayak, who was posted as a sub-inspector at Khandagiri police station at that time was handed over the case.

"After investigation in on 30 july, 2012, the chargesheet was filed. The trial started and the case was taken up by Barik. The verdict in this case was pronounced on October 31. The District and Sessions judge has sentenced all the accused to life imprisonment," Sarangi said.

The Police Commissioner highly praised the efforts of Barik and Nayak in this case.
