Bhubaneswar: Ineligible beneficiaries under Odisha Government's KALIA scheme will be identified and weeded out soon, said State's Agriculture Secretary Saurabh Garg.

"Government website has the names of 51 lakh beneficiaries of which 37 lakh are small and marginal farmers while 14 lakh are landless farmers. Committees have been set up at district, block and panchayat levels to identify ineligible and fake beneficiaries among these," informed Garg.

"We have put up the beneficiaries’ list on the walls of every Gram Panchayat office. This has been done with two aims. First, we want to wipe out the ineligible beneficiaries. Second, we have recently received one crore applications and we want to find the genuine ones," he added.

He further said that people who have wrongly received the financial aid can submit applications for exclusion of their name from the list. "Many people might not do it from their side, so obviously we are taking all necessary steps by looking at databases and the committees are verifying all documents. Other people can also provide information on such fake beneficiaries," he concluded.
