Bhadrak: Puruna Bazar Police station IIC Pragyan Mohanty has been transferred after tension prevailed here since last night when she allegedly misbehaved with a cloth merchant.

Reportedly, IIC Pragyan misbehaved with the said cloth merchant and even threw away his shop’s stock. Locals were aggravated at the unprovoked Police atrocity and demanded immediate action against the cop. They staged a protest and blocked the main road. The infuriated locals, then, resorted to stone-pelting; in retaliation to which Police had to conduct mild lathi charge. One Sheikh Raju was injured due to lathi charge and demand for transfer intensified.

D.I.G of Police (Northern Range) and IG and Police SP addressed the grievance of the locals and vowed to look into the matter.

Pragyan Mohanty has been transferred to District Police Headquarters.
