Bubaneswar: Higher Education Minister Ananta Das plans to ban cell phones usage in educational institutions to counter the spread of sex viral videos.

In this era, when educational institutions are going extensively digital in imparting education, this statement from the minister has raised eyebrows from all quarters.

“It is imperative to put a ban to the use of mobile phones in the campus to restrict such viral sex videos. It was proposed earlier but was not executed. Therefore, the Higher Education department has prepared a modality, which has been sent to CM Naveen Patnaik for approval. Once he approves it, we will send a notice to the educational institutions to ban the use of cell phones in the campus,” said Ananta Das to the media persons.

He had earlier said that mobile phones create disturbance in the classrooms. And the move to ban ban mobiles is only meant to ensure discipline and a healthy study environment inside the classrooms.
