Malkangiri:  ‘Geli’, a loyal pet dog is being hailed as a hero after he fought off with a venomous cobra to save his owner’s family from a venomous cobra. This incident occurred in Nakati Mandir Sahi in Odisha’s Malkangiri.

The 3-yr-old pet old pet started barking loudly when he saw a cobra stealthily moving towards his master’s house on Wednesday night. But it did not deter the reptile. So, ‘Geli’ engaged into a furious battle to foil the reptile’s plan to enter the house. It killed the snake just a few feet away from the main entrance, but was bitten by the venomous snake.

Hearing the continuous barks, his master Arjun Kirsani (a police constable at Gobindpalli police station) and the rest of his family woke up to find the dead cobra and injured dog. The loyalty of the dog filled with their hearts with gratitude and they rushed the injured pet to the nearby veterinary hospital.

Timely anti-venom dose and treatment saved the pet dog and it’s condition is stated to be stable now.
