Odisha: Here’s New Challenges For Departmental Secretaries In 2020

Bhubaneswar: Lok Seva Bhawan, the epicentre of all plans and policies of the Odisha government was today abuzz with activity on New Year's Day.

Visitors, well-wishers, subordinates, et al made a beeline to chambers of Ministers and Secretaries of various departments with bouquets, dairies, calendars and other new year gifts in their hands.

Braving the milling crowds of visitors and well-wishers OMMCOM NEWS reached out to a few departmental secretaries to get to know the challenges before them in 2020. 

Here are the excerpts:

"We have achieved several milestones under the able leadership of our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. We are very confident in taking it forward. I have appealed to my colleagues to work more sincerely to take Odisha forward in the year 2020," stated Asit Kumar Tripathy, Chief Secretary.

"The challenge before us is how to raise the income of our farmers. For that, we have released our new policy recently. We have set three targets in that which include crop diversification, use of technology for the benefit of farmers, our focus is on enhancing their incomes by way of processing and market linkage," said Saurabh Garg, Principal Secretary, Agriculture.

"We have several challenges before us this year, especially development of periphery of Shree Mandir and Shree Lingaraj Temple and overall development of all areas of our State," said Suresh Mohapatra, Development Commissioner.

"We hope 2020 will turn out to be a very meaningful year both for Tourism and Sports. We have already done several things. We expect that the FIFA U-17 World Cup is held smoothly. We have to launch Kalinga International Sports City. We would like to have substantial progress in the four international sports complexes that have been planned," said Vishal Dev, Secretary Sports, and Tourism.

"In Tourism sector we expect more tourists to visit the State and experience Odisha. We have several plans and programmes for infrastructure development, publicity, and branding," he added.   

All of whom we met greeted the people of Odisha on the New Year's Day and wished a happy and prosperous year ahead for them.
