Odisha: Healthcare Infrastructure In Mayurbhanj To Undergo Transformation

13 October 2019

Baripada: The capacity of Mayurbhanj District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) and Raghunath Murmu Medical College (combined) is likely to go up to 1,000 beds. Since Mayurbhanj is a bordering district, the patient’s footfall at the DHH in Baripada is always high, therefore the State Government will be paying special attention to the healthcare infrastructure of the tribal-dominated district.

Secretary Transformation and Initiatives (5T) VK Pandian was on a tour to Mayurbhanj DHH and the Medical College here and discussed the healthcare issues with patients and local authorities. Pandian was visibly satisfied with the healthcare facilities at the DHH and said that all that is needed to improve the conditions will be taken up.

After a closed door meeting, Collector Vineet Bhardwaj said that the 5T Secretary said that Mayurbhanj being his first district as a Collector, the latter would personally monitor the progress of healthcare infrastructure here.

Currently, there are 300 bed in the Mayurbhanj DHH and work is underway to add another 200 beds. For the Medical College, 500 beds have been sanctioned. Among others, Mayurbhanj SP Parmar Smit Purusottam Das, CDMO Dr Pradip Mohapatra, Medical College Dean and senior officials of the district administration were present.
