Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das today held a meeting with members of Odisha Private Medical Establishment Forum over multiple matters pertaining to healthcare delivery mechanism.

The State Government has accepted the demand of E-Registration in medical colleges. The other demand for payment under various schemes of the Government will be addressed very soon. This includes payment under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), said Das.

"Another major concern of the medical colleges was about fire safety relaxations. It was decided that the Medical Colleges will submit a request to Chief Minister on this matter for amendment in fire safety rules (from 12 to 15 metres)," the Minister said. By doing this maximum private hospitals will be getting full recognition, he added.

Dr Ajay Kumar Mishra, a senior member of the forum said that the meeting with the Minister was fruitful. "We discussed about the Supreme Court guidelines on ICU and other matters like the bed strength. We also requested the Minister about making relaxation on the building height. The Department has agreed to the three points and we will write to the Chief Minister on this matter."
