Odisha Health Minister Directs Medical College Heads To Systematize Patient Care

Bhubaneswar: Health & Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on Friday ordered heads of all medical colleges in Odisha to systematize patient care and make use of the government provided medical equipments as far as possible.

Das has also asked the medical college heads to take steps towards upgrading the Super Specialties Department into Centre of Excellence with emphasis on Cardiology, Nephrology and Hepatology departments. Besides, he has instructed for proper use and maintenance of state-of-the-art medical equipments.

While steps are being taken for development of infrastructure in view of the increase in patients at the medical colleges, Das has asked the authorities to provide better services to the patients through Biju Swastya Kalyan Yojana and Odisha State Treatment Fund. Besides, he has instructed them to prevent delay in referring patients to other hospitals whenever needed.

In view of the regular absence of doctors and other medical staff, Das has directed to install biometric devices at the medical colleges and check them on regular basis. He has also asked for proper utilisation of the funds provided by the State Government to medical colleges and to give emphasis on more research work while maintaining coordination between various departments for smooth functioning of the colleges.
