Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Bar Association today said that its governing body will meet on November 1 to decide on facing the contempt proceeding. The next hearing has been scheduled on November 4.

Recently, a 14 member bench of the Orissa High Court after registering a suo motu contempt case had issued notices to 68 Bar Associations on the issue of cessation of court work by lawyers.

In response to this notice, the HC Bar Association has had a couple of meetings in the recent past. The lawyers have unanimously resented the matter.

Speaking to media persons, Gopal Krushna Mohanty, President, Orissa High Court Bar Association, said, “Before the governing body meeting on November 1, there is enough time to chalk out a strategy. We need to carefully examine the proceeding notice before building a stand.”

Previously, the HC Bar Association also protested against the collegium system for the appointment of the High Court judges.
