Odisha Havildar, Sepoy & Constable Confederation Postpone Cease Work Stir

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Havildar, Sepoy and Constable Confederation have decided to postpone the mass agitation over delay in fulfillment of their four 4-point charter of demands after the State Government sought two more days to respond.

The decision was taken on Sunday after a meeting of the confederation at office of IG Headquarters, Asheet Kumar Panigrahi, informed president of the confederation Santosh Satpathy.

"The State Government asked us two days time and have assured to fulfill our demands within February 6, therefore we have postponed the dates," he added.

Reportedly, the confederation has been pressing since long for fulfillment of their demands including correction of an anomaly in the 7th grade pay, abolition of contractual appointments, hike in various allowances and increase in insurance cover

After failure of talks with State Government on January 30, the confederation decided to stage mass protest by wearing black badges during duty hours from February 4 and resort to cease work from February 5.

Meanwhile, the dates have been postponed to February 7 and February 8 respectively.
