Paradip: In a tragic accident, a Haiwa truck ran over three minors resulting in one’s death and outing two in critical condition. The incident occurred on Saturday morning at Barei Chaka near Bhutamundai under Paradip Lock Police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Kanhu Charan Mohanty (10) of Phulabelari village. The injured, who also hail from the same village, are Om Prakash Swain and Divya Pattnaik. They were on their way to coaching classes in Bhutamundai and on bicycles when the Haiwa hit them.

The injured minors were first taken to Kujanga hospital and then transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital as their condition worsened.

Locals have blocked the Cuttack-Paradip road by burning tyres with demand of putting an end to plying of heavy vehicles on that stretch of road. Their second demand is appropriate compensation for the deceased and free medical treatment for the critical.

Paradip Lock Police officials rushed to the accident spot upon information and rushed the injured to the nearest hospital. They are also in talks with the locals to end the protest and the road blockade as this article was being written. Also, a probe has been initiated.
