Dhenkanal: Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Law and Housing & Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena was on surprise visit today to Dhenkanal district to conduct a reality check on the implementation of 5T initiatives.

The Minister visited Dhenkanal Municipality office, Sadar Block office and an Aahar centre in Dhenkanal town during the visit.

"Today we came on a surprise visit to Dhenkanal. We first visited the Dhenkanal Municipality's office. Then we visited the Aahar Centre and later we visited the Block office. We will be also conducting a few field visits to ascertain if everything is being implemented properly. In the municipality and block offices, we found that progress of work was okay," the Minister said talking to newsmen here.

Jena during his visit to the Aahar centre had his lunch there. He said the food served at Aahar Centre was of good quality.

The Minister informed that there has been good progress made under the 'Ama Gaon Ama Vikas' programme and 'Prime Minister Awas Yojana' (PMAY) in the district.

He pointed out that Dhenkanal Sadar block ranks no.1 in implementation of PMAY in the district.

"We have asked them to be more careful in plugging whatever little lapses remain. I have asked them to give utmost importance to grievances of the people and prepare a database of the same and work towards their redressal. All officers should remain present on grievance day," Jena told reporters.

Responding to questions of reporters on allegations of the opposition on large-scale irregularities in Mahanga panchayat in allotment of houses under the PMAY, the Minister said that allegations should be made with evidence and not hearsay.

"Earlier, too I have said that irregularities won't be tolerated and appropriate action will be taken. Out of the four cases cited by the BJP, in three cases upon enquiry, we found that the persons were eligible and they have been allotted. Work order has not been issued in favour of the other person whom they claimed to be the brother of the former Block Chairman. Four years back his application was processed but work order has not been issued in his favour,"  Jena clarified.

Jena alleged that the BJP was trying to politicize the issue by making false allegations and added that there should be truth in the allegations.
