Odisha Govt To Launch e-ICU Service Soon

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to improve upon health services in the State, Odisha government will soon roll out e-ICU services. 

Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in district headquarters hospitals will be connected to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) through the service. This was revealed at a one-day workshop on e-ICU chaired by Health Secretary Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda.

Under the programme, ICUs of 10 district headquarters hospitals in the State will be linked using software developed by C-DAC and DCL.

District headquarters hospitals at Bhawanipatna, Puri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Bolangir, Nuapada, Baripada, Balasore and the Capital Hospital here will be connected with the Telemedicine department of SCBMCH, it was further revealed at the workshop.

Hence critical patients undergoing treatment at ICUs in district headquarters hospitals will have no problem in referral and treatment.

Apart from improvement in referral system, patients will have the benefit of ultra-modern technology in treatment.
