Bhanjanagar: The medical superintendant of Bhanjanagar Sub-division Hospital Dr Pitambar Dash was caught red-handed by the vigilance sleuths while accepting a bribe of around Rs 5,000 from the kin of a patient.

Notably, a woman named Bhanumati Barik was to undergo hernia operation in the hospital. She hailed from Patangi village of Kalingapadar panchayat under Tarasingh PS. Reportedly, the medical superintendant had demanded Rs 5,000 for the operation from her husband Shashi Barik.

The couple brought the incident under the notice of the vigilance sleuths. They laid a trap and caught Dash red handed this morning.

The sleuths have even raided his residence at Mala Sahi.
