Bhubaneswar: In the aftermath of the severe cyclonic storm FANI that hit hard Odisha on May 3 and have left behind trails of devastation following which rebuilding and restoration measures are still on, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal has decided not to host the ceremonial ‘At Home’ party on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day this year.

The press note issued in this context mentions, “Expressing solidarity with people affected by Cyclone FANI in Odisha, Governor Ganeshi Lal decided not to host At Home party at Raj Bhawan on the occasion of Independence Day this year.”

Need to be quoted here also the tweet of @GovernorOdisha dated June 6 that reads, “Hon'ble Governor and 122 employees of Governor's Secretariat, Bhubaneswar have contributed one day's salary towards Chief Minister's Relief Fund for restorations in aftermath of #CycloneFani @CMO_Odisha” (2:12 AM - 6 Jun 2019)

Notably, Odisha Governor hosts ‘At Home’ party at Raj Bhawan on Independence Day (August 15) every year which is attended by Chief Justice of Orissa High Court and other judges, Chief Minister, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly, Ministers, MPs from Odisha, MLAs, dignitaries of important fields and prominent industrialists.

The Governor also felicitates the freedom fighters on the august occasion.
