Cuttack: Ahead of polls, Excise department officials seized around 120 kg of ganja worth Rs 15 lakh rupees from a car near a check gate at Manguli here today morning. Two persons including a woman have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The arrested persons are Kokan Bhandari and Tokiya Khatun.

Acting on a tip-off, sleuths conducted checking in all cars bearing West Bengal registration number and found the huge cache of contraband. The cannabis was being carried in the car from Phulbani to West Bengal.

Excise official Jagdish Samal said, "The ganja is worth Rs 15 lakh and the car has also been seized. A huge racket has been tracked down and we are slowly unraveling it. They are using women to trick the police into thinking that they are a family and thus might not indulge in such activities."

The department has already seized Rs 80 lakh rupees, 4 cars, 400 grams of brown sugar, 300 kg ganja and 100 litres of duplicate liquor in the last month.
