Odisha: Ganja Peddler Injured In Phulbani Police Encounter

Phulbani: In a major breakthrough, a wanted ganja peddler was injured and nabbed after an encounter with Phulbani police late last night.

The peddler, who has been identified as Muna Digal, was involved in a round of gunfire with the police near Phulbani- Brahmani hill late last night. According to police officials, he was under the radar since November 2 when he had attacked the Officer-In-charge of Gochhapada police station.

Acting on a tip-off, the police tried chased the criminal in order to nab him last night. In order to flee, Digal fired on the police personnel following which the police fired on Digal in retaliation.

After sustaining injuries in the right knee, Digal was shifted to Phulbani Medical for treatment. One bike and a country-made revolver were seized from his possession.

As per sources, Digal has 11 pending cases for ganja smuggling against his name and 2 non-bailable warrants.
