Odisha: Gangsters' Bid To Liberate Leader During 'Court Production' Foiled, Five Arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City police on Wednesday arrested five members of the dreaded Rabi Rao gang who were planning to free their leader (the latter) from police custody. The accused have been identified as Sk Amin of Midnapore, raghu Biswal of Soro, Shibu Thakur of Howrah, Motibullah of Midnapore and Pabitra Mohan Das of Khurda.

According to the police, these five were planning to attack on the police and liberate Rao on his court-appearance date. The gang had planned to open fire at the police and free Rao. For this purpose, the five had done reconnaissance of Jharpada jail premises and Bhubaneswar court complex several times.

The gang had planned to rob high speed motorbikes from the highways and use the same for Rao's escape. the police seized one revolver, five live ammunition, five cell phones, one toy pistol, three daggers and one chilli powder packet from their possession. So far, seven serious criminal cases have been found against them.
