Bhubaneswar:  In a shocking development last night, former Bhubaneswar Mayor and BJD’s Bhubaneswar-Central MLA candidate Ananta Narayan Jena was critically injured in a bombing near Jharpada canal road under Laxmisagar police limits. Reportedly, Jena and some of his supporters were rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment.

According to sources, three bike-borne miscreants hurled bombs at Jena while he was travelling in a Maruti car and they soon fled the spot. On intimation, cops reached the place and began an investigation into the incident.

Jena's condition is reportedly stable now.

It is notable to mention here that Jena was attacked few hours after miscreants hurled bombs at the vehicle of Jagannath Pradhan, the BJP candidate for Bhubaneswar (Central) assembly, near Delta Square under Nayapalli police limits. While windows of his car were badly damaged, Pradhan escaped unhurt in the incident.
