Bhubaneswar: Few hours after resigning from the Congress, the State Mahila Congress president Sumitra Jena joined the Biju Janata Dal on Tuesday.

Jena was peeved with the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee over distribution of tickets and alleged that tickets were given to mining and liquor mafia by the OPCC. Along with Jena, several other senior leaders of the Mahila Congress joined the BJD at Naveen Nivas today.

"I am happy that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has accepted me into the BJD and I will work towards strengthening the party further. Congress leadership in Odisha has grossly neglected women," she said.

The other leaders who joined the regional party are - Sujata Jena, Kamala Taria, Bhagyashree Pradhan
