Bhubaneswar: After being beaten by rowdies in the presence of police, the family of Bhubaneswar-based Sikh man Parvinder Singh is in a state of terror. While a police team has been deployed for their security outside the apartment where he lives, Parvinder and his wife said that from the past two weeks they have been confined to the four walls of their house.

"The assaulters were booked by the police under petty charges because of which they managed to secure bail within two hours. Now they are loafing around scot-free. We are under constant fear," said Parvinder.

The couple had come to meet the DG Police at the latter's camp office here today. After the meeting, speaking to media persons, Parvinder's wife said that the board exams are approaching but their children cannot muster courage to go to school.

"Who will give us safety all the time, when the people who attacked my husband are out on bail. When he was attacked in the presence of PCR personnel, who will guarantee that he would not be attacked again?" she said.

Parvinder added that he was not able to go to work and earn his living. Life has been difficult for us. "The world has turned awry for no fault of ours. I will move the Odisha Human Rights Commission for justice," he said.
