Odisha: Family Of 4 Forced To Leave Village Over Maoist Threat

14 January 2020

Malkangiri: A family of four was forced to desert their home and their village after Maoists beat them over on suspicion of the family being police informers.

Ganga Madhi and his family hail from Katuapadar near Tulasi hills of the Mao-infested Malkangiri district.

A group of Maoists set up a ‘Praja Court’ and found the four of them guilty of being police informers. They mercilessly beat them and forced them to move out of the village. The family has reportedly taken shelter in a relative’s home in nearby Dhakad Rasi village.

Out of fear, the family has not filed any complaint yet.
