Odisha: Fake Currency Worth Rs 1.6 Lakh Seized In Cuttack, One Arrested

Cuttack: The Commissionerate of Police today seized fake currency worth Rs 1.6 lakh in Rs 2,000 denominations which was deposited into a cash deposit machine at CDA township. The depositor has been arrested and being questioned.

According to reports, on Monday, the bank officials ascertained that the currency notes were fake and reported the matter to police. Acting upon the complaint, the depositor was arrested. Markat Nagar police have registered a case in this connection.

Police said, it has seized 53 currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination and were deposited on January 17. While the accused has been identified as a local businessman, he claimed that the cash did not belong to him.
