Odisha: Enquiry Finds No Truth In Sexual Harassment Slur Against High School Headmaster

Bhubaneswar: Enquiry committee report finds no truth in the sexual harassment allegation levelled by a lady teacher against the headmaster and another teacher of Krushnabhanu High School at Jathia of Baliapal in Balasore district.

"An enquiry committee comprising of the headmaster of Narasimha High School, Rebati Jena and Block Education Officer (BEO) Narayan Das has conducted an enquiry into the allegations on 18.10.2019. The Committee has recorded the statements of all concerned. There is no truth in the allegations levelled by the lady teacher," informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash to reporters here today.

"It has been proved during the enquiry that the allegations made by the lady teacher against two teachers-headmaster Ratikanta Jena and one assistant teacher Sudhansu Sekhar Jena of the school were fabricated and there is no truth in it. The enquiry committee had recommended for transferring the three teachers-headmaster, one assistant teacher and the complainant lady teacher-Subhasmita Pathy (music teacher) to different schools. Accordingly, the Director has transferred them," he added.

As per reports, the lady teacher of Krushnabhanu High School at Jathia of Baliapal had alleged that headmaster and another teacher of the school had sexually harassed her.

According to the allegation reported in the media, the headmaster had been misbehaving with the lady teacher for about 8-9 months.

The headmaster allegedly used to regularly make phone calls to the lady teacher pressurizing her to yield to his proposal.

The lady teacher had also alleged that the headmaster on finding her alone in the school did not hesitate to touch her at inappropriate places.
