Odisha: Donation Of Rs 54 Lakh Recovered From Majhighariani Temple 'Hundi'

Rayagada: The hundi of Goddesses Majhighariani was opened today amidst tight security. Bank officials, temple committee members and local intelligentsia were present during the evaluation of cash and valuables.

According to reports, cash of Rs 54.51 lakh in form donation was recovered from the hundi of the principal deity of Rayagada. Apart from the cash, 45 grams gold, 1.87 grams silver and demonetised currency of Rs 48,500 was recovered from the hundi.

Earlier, four months back, Rs 63 lakh in cash was recovered from the same hundi, reports added. The calculation process took 18 hours and completed at 8 pm.

An amount from the donations will be utilised for developmental works in the district, said Raisingh Bidika, president of the Temple Managing Committee said.
