Bhubaneswar: Security arrangements for the upcoming Rath Yatra were reviewed by Odisha DGP RP Sharma in a preparatory meeting held at his camp office in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
After the meeting Sharma informed that while the security arrangements will be done as per protocol, Cyclone FANI has done a lot of damage to many infrastructures in the district as a result restoration of power supply and other works are still underway.
Therefore police is facing various issues in providing logistics support and manpower needed during Rath Yatra. The challenges are accommodation of forces and the VIPs who will attend the festival.
Discussions were also held on installation of temporary CCTV cameras in Puri town and link it with the police control room.
Based on threat perceptions, counter intelligence system will be activated. Besides, steps will be taken to strengthen coastal security by establishing coordination between marine police and coast guard.
