Bhubaneswar: Gracing the occasion of 11th Raising Day of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack (Twin City) Commissionerate of Police, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma directed the Police Commissioner to send a proposal for creating two new police districts in capital city Bhubaneswar.

In the special function held at OSAP 7th Battalion Parade Ground here, the DGP said, “At present, Bhubaneswar is growing in an expansive manner in terms of population, education, IT, transport, traffic, etc. Keeping this in view, one more police district is the dire need of the hour. Commissionerate Police is already thinking over it. Very soon, a proposal is going to be prepared regarding this matter and will be submitted to the State Government. This proposed second police district will cater to more improved policing system.”

“It is required because most of the police stations are having larger jurisdiction, for example, Khandagiri police station. When we prepare the proposal for the division of existing police station and creation of new police station, there will be need for reorganization of jurisdiction at that time,” he concluded.
